Volunteers
The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. ~Oscar Wilde
Volunteers make the Watchtree Wheelers Cycle Centre what it is, without them we wouldn't exist. With only 2 members of staff at the Reserve volunteer efforts are vitally important. On this page you will find a special mention for out 3 main "Wheelers" volunteers as well as details of how you can get involved -
Our Team
Wendy Woof
Wendy has been with us from the beginning - originally; and still, volunteering to helping out on Watchtree's Conservation and Ecological tasks, Wendy is now one of the three key volunteers that help keep "The Wheelers" wheels in motion (pardon the pun). Over the years she has dedicated countless hours to the project and to the Reserve as a whole. She is now juggling her time here with many other volunteer organisations as well as a college course in Social Care.
Chris Ball
Chris is involved in many projects including the "Revival of Wigton Train Station" and volunteer work with Age Concern. Chris is a bike fanatic and can often be seen cycling along the local lanes as well as pulling on his walking boots and rambling around the Cumbrian Fells. His knowledge of cycling and his enthusiasm for getting out and about is contagious. As well as regularly Volunteering on site at Watchtree, Chris has also completed sponsored challenges for Watchtree such as 2010's Three Peaks Challenge.
Ian Ludlam
Ian began volunteering at Watchtree early last year, as a keen cyclist he was looking for volunteering oppotunities after retiring. Ian is now a valued member of our team and assists in many Group and "Drop In" sessions. It was with Ians help that we started running the Thursday evening "Drop In" Sessions last year.
