Wind Farm development

Known as the Great Orton Windcluster, the six turbines produce 4MW of energy, enough to power nearly 2000 homes. The energy savings in terms of emissions each year are; 8,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide and 130 tonnes of sulpher dioxide.

The six turbines were supplied by Vestas from Denmark with the towers supplied by Cambrian Engineering of Bangor. They stand 45 metres to the hub, with a 47 metre blade span.

There were originally ten 300kW turbines between 1992 and 1999 but as technology advanced these were reduced to the present day six.
